Vacationing at home

With the pandemic around, we’ve all changed our vacationing habits. Better said, we had no choice but to make the best of the lockdowns. Here is an idea how you can bring the vacation into your house.

When you think hammock you think vacation, you think Caraibes or maybe you think to beautiful warm Alberta outdoors. Now if you take out the vacation and the Caraibes because lockdown is lockdown, and again if you take out the beautiful outdoors because was winter, what is left? The hammock.

Why not enjoying your hammock into one of your sunny rooms? If you never considered this before maybe it is the time to give it a try and see how it works. I know for me and my son it works miracles.

This is a simple and safe way to install a hammock indoors. You check with a stud finder the studs you have in the wall in the 2 parts where you want to install your hammock supports. You cut 2 pieces of 2×4 to the dimensions you need in order to fit 2 or 3 studs into the wall. I made them long enough to hold into 2 studs and I strongly recommend to do the same or even consider 3 studs support if you can. I painted the 2x4s the same colour like the wall, put a hole in the middle and screw them into the studs. I put a wood spacer of about 3/4 inch between the supports and the wall to have space for the hammock rope.

After the supports were in place I wrapped some paracord rope on each support – those loops are permanent and I just tie the hammock down whenever we feel like using it.

Enjoy and if you have any questions I will gladly answer you. Have a great day and stay safe…
